January Newsletter 2011

Unbelievebly the start of yet another year, which has been pointed out to me is better than the alternative !! Hopefully, this coming year won’t be as gloomy as the media would like us to believe. Most locals feel that the impending Olympics and feel good factor that will bring should leave our area in a certain hypothetical bubble. And lots of our customers that we’ve been talking to seem to be happy with their respective order books looking reasonably good going forward—let’s see, as they say, only time will tell.
In our last Newsletter we mentioned computerising our Hire Dept. This is still ongoing—mainly set back due to our servers failing and the time that’s taken to sort that out !! Our aim is now to go live on the 1st Feb which coincides with the start of our financial year.
Year End - the end of January brings our financial year to a close and as always we ask that your accounts are settled, if at all possible, early so we can finalise and get our info to the accountants.
Price Increases to note (some already notified)…as always, if in doubt, please ask us for up-to-date prices. Remember any special rates will be increased without specific notification…

Anybody trying to buy concrete blocks will already be aware of the current problems we’re having with the supply of concrete blocks. The new supply date issued by S Morris today was the 27 July 2010 ! Hanson, Tarmac and Aggregate Industries are also on long lead times.
